Stanley Landcare Report
I must thank everyone who has contributed in recent weeks to our planting and mulching working bees in Blue Gum Gully. We have now completed the current planting. There may be more involving suitable plants next year. It has been wonderful to see many new faces helping.
The mulching in Blue Gum Gully area has certainly helped keep moisture in the soil for newly
planted shrubs etc. – let’s hope for rain soon or we may have to put the water cart to use. Weeds, grasses will need controlling, so the work never really stops!
Long Dick’s Gully area needs some spraying and next year some more planting.
Most of you will have noticed that Ian Hills, the Contractor, has completed the new tracks in the Spring Ditch area. The result looks good and should mean that the area is enjoyed by a greater number of people. However, horse riders, can you please refrain from riding along the new tracks while they are settling in.
A few members of our group have placed two heavy picnic table sets into the Spring Ditch park area. These have long been the property of the Spring Ditch Committee and will be properly fixed in place as soon as possible.
We always welcome suggestions and your contribution. We all share in the benefits of what can be achieved.
Our next meeting will take place at the Athenaeum on Tuesday, 13th November at 7.30pm.
