The Friends of the Stanley Athenaeum are currently planning two exhibitions and one big event for 2012. The first exhibition is called ‘Tutti Fruiti’ and will be looking at the orchard and horticultural history of Stanley. The second exhibition will be celebrating Dickens’ 200th birthday with the Athenaeum’s own Dickens’ collection of his famous fiction. We also plan a big Dickens’ Dinner event on Saturday 18th August . This will be along the lines of our popular Darwin Dinner event so there will be opportunity to come along dressed up as characters.

This year our meeting date has changed to Thursday mornings, but our Open Days remain the same on the second Tuesday and last Saturday of each month from 10am to 12.

So Tuesday March 13th and Sat March 24th are the open days this month. New members and researchers are welcome.

Meanwhile the Friends are working with Indigo Council to find a way forward with the controversial notice-board sculpture funded by a bushfire grant.
