Community Groups – Meetings, Events & Gatherings

Uniting Church

Our Minister, Rev. Caro Field, made a welcome return to Stanley for the evening service on 8 February, with John Purkis from Beechworth providing the musical accompaniment on his clarinet, and a good-sized congregation enjoyed the abundant supper. Regular lay preacher, Peter Bluck, took the Sunday 22 February morning service with a total of ten present, so we seem to be holding our own.

This month’s services will be held on Sunday 8 March at 6.00PM and Sunday 22 March at 9.30AM. All welcome

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

Stanley Social Group

It was great to catch up for a chat and to plan some future events at last months’ get-together. We will once again host the Biggest Morning Tea on the 28th May and also go to the Wooragee School for lunch on the 19th May.

We will support the “Stanley Fair” on the 28th March by doing the morning and afternoon teas – a bit more planning can be discussed when we meet again on the 17th March at the Church. We hope to meet some of the newer residents of Stanley on that date.

Stanley Athenaeum & Hall Committee

You may have noticed some work being carried out at the Hall recently. This work is being carried out by the Shire under the Cyclic Maintenance Program: windows have been repaired along with some timber repairs, painting is to start shortly and the same colour scheme will be used as the Athenaeum. We look forward to our area looking very smart when this is completed.

Don’t forget our Car Boot Sale at the Recreation reserve on 14th March. It was a great town event last year, so we all hope to better it this year. Please refer to our Advertisement in this month’s NMN for details

Stanley Plateau Chorus

We meet to sing on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month.

We were happy to give a big welcome to Anthony, Lois and Rosie this year. We welcome any other Stanley residents who would like to sing and remind you that it is not essential to have prior musical knowledge.
