News from the Stanley Fire Brigade
We are pleased to say that we have experienced another mild and safe summer which has resulted in fire restrictions being lifted earlier than usual. However, we all need to remain vigilant with any burn offs.
Even though the fire danger period has ended, the fuel load is high and the risk of a fire getting out of control is real. Anyone planning a burn off is encouraged to lodge their plans with Vicfire and ensure they have appropriate fire fighting equipment on hand.
Please contact the brigade if you want support or advice.
SRFB has participated in several training exercises as part of the Bogong Group. Most recently an evening exercise in the Plantations north of the town.
This exercise was facilitated by the Yackandandah Fire Brigade with assistance from Hancock’s Plantation staff. It provided an opportunity to look at issues relating to navigating the tracks to our north and gain a better understanding of fire behaviour in difficult terrain.
• April – minimum skills training for new members
