Artist: Chris Dormer
Trees and Leaves is an exhibition by Stanley-based artist, Chris Dormer.
It consists of small works that are simple and evocative and inspired by her life as an artist, gardener and lover of trees. Chris will be exhibiting original one-off prints and monoprints that use the leaf as a metaphor for the tree and the natural world.
Chris is a practising artist working in textiles and more recently printmaking.
She regularly exhibits her work in local and regional galleries and art shows. In February this year her work was shown in the Block X Block printmakers’ exhibition at Artspace Wodonga. She works from her studio at home in Stanley and at the Creators Artspace studio on the Causeway in Wodonga.
This new print series explores the micro and macrocosms of the leaf, its shape, texture and nuances. These are highlighted by their changing positions, shapes and relationships such that the parts can then be seen as of the whole, creating vistas, landscapes and imagined places.
The Trees and Leaves exhibition will be opening at the Indigo Vineyard on the Beechworth-Wangaratta Road at Everton Upper on Friday November, 2013 at 5.30 pm and will be open Wednesday to Sunday from 1st November until 31st December 2013.
